Well maybe not her first, but the first with her new captain. My friend and long time sailing companion, Frank Peri, sold his beloved Pierson 35, Yours Trulli. She is a beautiful boat and she and my sloop Rhombus were well acquainted. It didn’t take long for Frank to find a new love, this time a petite Com PAC 27. A bit smaller and easier to handle, but still a nautical lady. Satori means “sudden enlightenment” and sudden it was! Satori and Rhombus will get along great. Both were born in 1987! With the purchase completed, only one problem remained - Satori lived in a boat yard in Charlotte Harbor. A nice boat trip, first south to Ft. Myers, then the Okeechobee Waterway to the east coast of Florida and finally north to Jacksonville all lay ahead. Though Frank is an experienced single-hander, I asked to keep him company on part of the trip. I had also acquired Rhombus on Florida’s West Coast and knew the way home. Besides, the Waterway has LOCKS, lots of them. This story describes a wonderful and interesting trip.
